General Newsroom

The Mark Edwards Foundation was set up in memory of our friend and colleague Mark Edwards. Tragically he was struck down by cancer in August 2017, aged just 44.  Mark was a great character, a huge sports fan and rugby player, and his friends and family created the foundation which is designed to assist young people in the achievement and development of amateur sporting excellence.  The funds raised are distributed as grants to be used for clothing, equipment, sports education, coaching, mentoring and club membership fees.

Mark was a pillar of our Supply Chain Management (SCM) Team; he worked in various logistics roles throughout his career.  One time, whilst travelling in Sri Lanka he asked why the kids playing cricket swapped pads and gloves when changing over. He was told that this was due to a lack of equipment. So, on his return to the UK, he contacted local schools and clubs for their spare kit and consolidated this into a container.  The container was provided and shipped by Allport Cargo Services to Sri Lanka and was filled with bats, balls, pads and other equipment which was then distributed with the help of our Sri Lankan partner.

On the 10th of September the ACS Supply Chain Management Team are undertaking their annual 15 kilometre charity walk round the hills of Shropshire in Mark’s memory.

If you would like to make a donation to a very worthy cause in memory of our friend, all contributions are very welcome.
